Ogata Korin
Ogata Korin, born in 1658 in Kyoto, Japan was one of the most successful and inspirational painters during the Tokugawa period. He had his own unique style shown in his most famous paintings such as, "The Eight-Planked Bridge” and “Rough Waves”. He often painted on panels of two or six, which was common in this period, and painted realistic subjects with abstract backgrounds. Korin attended the Kano School and influenced the creation of the Rimpa School.
